Note: This article does not apply to PFTW version 2.04 and above. Commandline parameters passed using the -a switch now appear before the command parameters specified in the PFTW wizard.
When you want to run your setup from within a self-extracting file created with PackageForTheWeb, you need to launch setup with the /SMS switch so that the top level installer (setup.exe) doesn't quit after it calls the lower level installer. PFTW allows us to put /SMS onto the Additonal args list. The problem is that it puts it in front of the other arguments that might be passed in on the command line. If all of the args were for installshield, this would be fine. But if you want to pass a user-defined command line parameter, you must specify them before /SMS.
This workaround is an intermediate program. PFTW is set to use setupSMS.exe instead of setup.exe. setupSMS.exe takes in the arguments from PFTW, and adds the /SMS to the end, and spawns off setup.exe. When setup.exe is finished, setupSMS.exe completes, and PFTW cleans up after itself.

Note: This article does not apply to PFTW version 2.0 and above. You can use the -s command line switch to create a package without displaying dialogs.
If you want to run pftwwiz.exe in an unattended build batch, you still have to click the Finish button when PFTW has completed its work. RunApp is a program that invokes PFTW and waits for the Finish button to appear and then clicks it.
You can use it in a batch file like this:
:Build runapp -i -cFinish -t4000 pftwwiz.exe myproj.pfw -a if not exist myproj.exe goto Build
RunApp has been tested with PFTW 2.02 - 2.04 on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95. Note that it is released without any warrenty or support.

You can build PFTW packages from the command line in a batch build process. However if you want to sign the package, VeriSign pops up a dialog to request your password. Here is a program that intercepts the dialog and enters the password for you. Specify your password on the command line.
