InstallSite.org is a collection of tips, technical articles, sample code, tools, discussion forums, and the like for developers creating setups with Microsoft's Windows Installer (MSI) technology or Macrovision's InstallShield products. It also has information for System Administrators and IT Professionals repackaging and deploying MSI packages. InstallSite maintains a list of MSI authoring tools (including commercial tools, freeware and open source) and a list of books about Windows Installer and other setup related topics. There is also an online shop where you can buy software, training, and other services.
Most of the content on this site may be used free of charge, but there is also some shareware and links to commercial products that are of interest for a setup developer. Please be sure to read the legal information to find out all the details. By using this site you agree to the License Agreement.

InstallSite depends on YOUR participation. If you have anything (code, custom dialogs or DLLs, tips or whatever) that you think might be useful to other setup developers, please send it to the webmaster. It would be nice if you include a description of what the function does and a complete description of it's parameters. Please read the legal information.
After the InstallShield 5.0 product was released in 1997, several people in the
newsgroups asked for a place where they could post useful functions, so that others
wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. So I decided to create this site. InstallSite started
in November 1997 and was hosted by Geocities. Since then, the number of visitors was
rapidly increasing, and many people encouraged me to continue this work. It turned out
that Geocities was not the most reliable server and some restrictions prevented me from
designing the site like I thought it should be. So in March 1998 InstallSite moved to a
new server, with the domain www.ibv-tools.de, which is much shorter than
the cryptic Geocities address. But the ibv-tools server didn't prove to be most reliable,
too. As a first step to improve availability, a mirror site in Singapore was established
at InstallSite.sw.com.sg (which is not in use anymore). Soon after that,
on its first birthday in November 1998, InstallSite moved again. Now the URL for the
primary site is www.InstallSite.org
and has a fast connection to the internet.
Currently (as of 2006) the site has 250,000 page views and 100,000 visitors per
month, not including the forum which has 12,500 registered users and more than
450 posts per month.
I hope this site will help you to get the most out of Windows Installer and InstallShield and create great setup
programs.
